It’s nearly time for the annual Glastonbury Wool Festival, taking place Saturday 18th & Sunday 19th August.. For those who have never seen it, this is a fantastic and fun event. The highlight for us is always the Sheep & Alpaca Run, where sheep are herded down Glastonbury High Street (with the Alpacas being led) to the Market Cross where they are penned; anything can happen along the way! The ‘Run’ opens the festival and takes place at 10.00am on Saturday 18th but click here for the full programme of festival events taking place in and around Glastonbury over the weekend.
Be warned that on Sunday 19th, the Elizabethan tradition of fining people for not wearing a wool hat on Sundays is being reimplemented. Make or buy a woolly hat or you may find yourself subject to a 17 pence fine! You can make your own hat at the festival.
Further details of the event can be found here.
