Session 1: ‘Glastonbury & Alchemy – The Search for the Red Powder’.
What actually is alchemy? ‘An Alchemical Journey’ is a series of 6 stand alone themed talks that will introduce us to this fascinating subject. In this first talk James begins with the story of John Dee’s scryer Edward Kelley, who claimed to have discovered a mysterious red powder in the ruins of Glastonbury Abbey, through which he later made alchemical gold. What did the monks know of alchemy and what light do the secrets of alchemy shed on the mysteries of Glastonbury itself?
This popular Somerset Art Works Open Studios event will be with us again this autumn from 20th September– 5th October 2014. Over 200 venues, with around 400 participating artists across Somerset will be opening their doors to the general public.

This year’s Harvest Show is at Glastonbury Town Hall on Saturday

usually enter competitions and the judges are looking for
