Rediscovering Glastonbury Abbey Excavations 1908 – 1979

This one-day symposium will focus on the archaeological analysis of the excavation archive from 1908 to 1979 which will significantly improve understanding of Glastonbury Abbey and its central role in British monasticism. Now in its second year, this important research by the Archaeology Department at the University of Reading is supported by the Arts and Humanities Research Council and Glastonbury Abbey.

The symposium will present the initial findings of the historic excavation analysis and recent surveys and is aimed at professional and amateur archaeologists and local communities who have an interest in Glastonbury Abbey.
