Glastonbury Frost Fayre 2012

GLASTONBURY FROST FAYRE will be on Saturday 15th December 2012 from 11am to 8pm. The High Street will be closed to traffic from 11am to allow for a day of events throughout the town with late opening (until 8pm) of stalls and most shops.

11.30am. United church Choir Singing Carols outside St. Johns.

11.50ish am. Lydia’s Drums at Market Cross, announcing the Opening
ceremony at The Melodrome Stage (St.Dunstans Car Park – beside Town Hall)

12.noon. Grand Opening with The Mayor and Special Guest Edward Tudor-Pole.

Other attractions include:
Horse and carriage trips to Santa’s Grotto
Children’s World
Live performances at 3 locations. (St.Dunstans Car Park, Market Cross, St.Johns)

The day also includes the opening of the Christmas Tree Festival at St Johns Church when the Church will be adorned with 50 decorated trees.

Admission to Glastonbury Abbey is free from 12pm to 4pm.
Abbot’s Kitchen will be transformed into Santa’s Grotto with Father & Mother Christmas.
A choir will be singing Christmas carols and it is hoped to have a brass band playing. There will be a ‘decorate your own Christmas tree biscuit’ activity for children and the sale of mince pies, mulled cider, and hot chocolate and chocolate log. We are also hoping to use a medieval fire-pit to roast chestnuts, and these will be for sale.

The Abbey would like to have ‘Peace and Goodwill’ spelled out using candles within the grounds. Mayor Ian Tucker will be co-coordinating this. Please bring lanterns or candles in jars to make this happen.

A Willow Lantern parade will be lit at 16.00 in the Abbey, and then process from the Abbey to Abbey park. Please feel free to dress up and bring night-lights/candles in small jars to light our way into the Recreational Park above the Abbey
grounds, where a surprise event will be taking place.. more about that
on the day! The Avalonian Free state Choir will be singing there at 5.00pm.

At Glastonbury Rural Life Museum - Make decorations for the tree and try our Victorian toys. £1 drop-in

Town Hall – ‘The Big Christmas Craft & Flea Market’ – 10.30am – 4.30pm
Vegan Fair – 11am – 3pm Free Food

Evening – St. Johns Church ‘The Madrigirls’ 7.30pm
